I dream my painting, and then I paint my dream. --Vincent Van Gogh--
One of the hardest things for us to see and understand is how other people view the world. Some people may look at the same scene and see it differently to others. It all lays in our perception of the world. Looking at landscapes, we see the world free from other peoples’ experiences and influences. No one else’s but your own. It is a completely neutral subject. Happy, sad, scared, intrigued, a person always views the world with a certain expression. My work aims to help the observer interpret the world through someone else’s eyes. Through colour palette and brush strokes the viewer is invited to interpret what the mood of the painting could be for me, but also for them. For example a grey and stormy seascape could be scary and upsetting for someone, just as it could bring a sense of wonder and excitement for someone else. Visual perception is different for everyone. The biggest influences for my work have been Edvard Munch and Vincent Van Gogh. Their beautiful work inspired me to create expression through impression through colour and stylistic brush strokes.

Digital Painting With the same influences as before, the most recent work has began to truly appreciate the digital age by using the medium of digital painting. Inspiration for this work stems from the works of David Hockney and his use of rich colour and unapologetic abstraction of the natural landscape.
